What is the Eco Kit?
It is a building system based on prepared, numbered components assembled on site. Architectural drawings, a BIM model and assembly information help the project team coordinate the work. The precise materials, connections and supplied elements are specified for each project.
Is this a modular or prefab home?
Modular and prefab describe several different ways to build. KiteHouse uses a flat-pack kit of components, rather than delivering a finished room-sized box. Preparation takes place before site assembly, while the design, structure and interfaces remain specific to the project.
From feasibility to assembly
Start with your plot, intended use, approximate area and budget. The team develops the architecture and engineering, reviews planning constraints and defines the package. Kit preparation and site works are coordinated before the agreed contractor assembles the structure. Foundations, services and finishes need their own clearly allocated scope.
New homes and existing buildings
The approach can be considered for a new home, an extension, an additional floor, a garden workspace or a group of homes. An extension first requires a review of the existing structure, access, connections and local planning constraints. Tervuren and Waterloo show two different extension settings.
Circular design, made specific
Prepared elements and demountable connections support the intention to use materials efficiently and allow future reuse. Actual environmental performance depends on the complete specification, quantities, transport, use and end-of-life scenario. Ask to review these choices for your design alongside structural and energy requirements.
Answers to practical questions.
Does the Eco Kit use a timber structure?
The Eco Kit uses prepared structural timber elements and assembly information. The precise build-up, connections and performance are designed and specified for each project.
How quickly can an Eco Kit home be built?
The complete programme includes design, permissions, preparation, foundations, assembly and finishes. Ask for a project-specific schedule; a prepared kit does not establish a single fixed building time.
